Computer Freak Meet Mission Statement: Have a good time doing what we do best! GAME!! CFM is a annual computer gaming (LAN) event located in North Jersey, but open to everyone! Gamers novice or elite, native or foreign, of any nationality come and unite at CFM. What's a LAN? A LAN party is a social gathering of PC gamers and enthusiasts. People of all ages come together to play PC games, meet people, hang out, and just have fun. It requires you to haul your computer from its beloved desk space of your room to the location of the LAN. It sounds tough, but is really easy. This is good for both your PC and yourself. It gets you away from the solo computer action of your room, and lets you interact with real people sitting next to you. Not only will you like it, but your PC will enjoy the company of other PCs, too. An experience with fellow gamers at a LAN is far better than sitting alone in your room. What Games? So what kind of games can be played at a LAN? Just about anything that people may have. Some of these include first person shooters (fps), flight sims, driving sims, strategy, sports games, and mods. It is a great opportunity to check out some games you may not have seen, played, or heard about. If you are nice to people they may even let you play a game on their pc, which is a great way to try a new game before buying it. You can also get a lot more than just gaming from attending a LAN. You have the opportunity to meet people and make new friends. Kick back, relax, and talk to some people about pitching in to order some pizza. Take a break and watch a DVD you have not seen on someone's pc. Maybe you will meet someone from the next town that you may have never known about. You will meet people with various PC and software skill levels. You can get a lot of valuable tips for gaming, hardware tweaking, PC tweaking, configuration, and all sorts of other stuff. Damn PING ! Last but not least is the low lag benefit of a LAN.
LAN = Local Area Network! With all these people together in one room on
a network the transfer rate is incredible, and everybody gets fairly equal
and low lag. You will not have to settle for that frame by frame feeling
of 56K modem or share your bandwidth with the other 100,000+ people in
your city. Your play is as close to real time as you can get. There are
usually dedicated servers running several games for the event. You can
join one of those, or start your own server with your own maps, mod, or
game. If there is a game you would like to play and do not see it running,
just ask around. There is always a group of people that rally together
to play a game that may not be running on a dedicated server. Again, you
also have the option of starting up a server and leading the rally for
others. |
